Long before Silverstream trailers and Winnebagos, Henry Ford had a dream of a “camp car”. In 1923, Popular Mechanics devoted an entire issue on how to build your own Dream Camper. The total cost, including the used truck, was $650. It had canvas slide-outs, devices to cook a meal on the engine, and a bath tub. Henry Ford used to treat the President of the United States to camping trips at Yellowstone in a vehicle much like a motorhome. Boots n’ Britches are upholding the RV tradition with their own 1923 Ford Dream Camper. They tell stories of their adventures traveling around our great country in their old time motorhome. On its sides it has water barrels, ice clamps, lanterns, and exercise equipment (pick, shovel, and saw). Inside is a pot-bellied stove, shaving utensils, bunk bed, washing pan, and table. Toted behind the camper is an outhouse on wheels, complete with corn cobs!
